MATERIAL CITY

Working on the material substance of the city, Chiara had an awesome intuition working with a magnifying lens. As she writes in her comment, using an optical process which magnifies, diminishes, or turns upside down something is a way to take a distance form its function and see it for what it is. But also, to let it transform in something else, to feed the imagery. In the end Chiara’s exercise wonderfully enlightened the essential relation of the matter with the image, the essence of the city as made of stone and dreams.
