2009 – Sighting points – 30 magnifying glass mounted on a mobile and decomposable brass structure
SIGHTING POINTS
By Chiara Pellegrini
Wandering through the city streets you often feel like you are constantly observed. As if a big eye, permanently over our heads, was looking down at us.
People talk about safety, social control, but it looks like we are more like old women hiding beyond their closed windows, afraid of external looks.
This “mobile” installation is looking for a role-reversal from “observed” to “observing”, through the definition of “sighting points”.
30 magnifying glasses are placed side by side forming a molecular modular structure and defining an observation area through which, depending on the distance of the observer, the reversed or magnified image juxtapose with reality.
